Norm Abram was born in Woonsocket but spent his childhood and high school years in Milford, Massachusetts. Norm went to the University of Massachusetts, Amhers, to study mechanical engineering and business administration after graduating from high school. He was a member of the Pi Lambda Phi fraternity at college.
Following his graduation from college, Norm was recruited as a site supervisor by a multimillion-dollar New England-based construction company, a job he maintained for the following three years. He launched his own business, Integrated Structures Inc., once those three years were over, thus his net worth was well established.
In 1979, his life was turned upside down when television producer Russell Morash recruited him to construct a tiny barn in his garden, and Morash quickly expanded their connection when he engaged Norm to restore an ancient Victorian home for his “This Old House” series. Soon after, Norm was cast as the master carpenter on “This Old House,” and has since featured in over 240 episodes. Over time, this became the primary source of his net worth.
