A car has rolled onto its side on Brading High Street this afternoon (Friday).
The vehicle – a Smart ForTwo – has come to rest up against the traffic light control box outside The Wheatsheaf pub, near the pedestrian crossing at The Bull Ring.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service, the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Police are all on scene.
Firefighters from Ryde and Newport have stabilised the Smart car to prevent it from rolling back onto its wheels.
The driver – who Island Echo understands has been involved in at least 2 other crashes in recent months – is being tended to by paramedics.
The road has been closed in both directions by Police – meaning motorists are having to divert via Bembridge and St Helens.
Parents collecting children from Brading Primary School are struggling to access the area, but the school are aware of the situation.
UPDATE @ 16:15 – Brading High Street has now re-opened.
It has been confirmed that the female driver has escaped injury.
